141st Readiness Center and Central Plant

Woodward delivers full integrated design-build services with a focus on sustainability for the new 141st Jackson Barracks Readiness Center.

Located in New Orleans near St. Bernard Parish, Jackson Barracks saw their facilities flooded and unusable. Woodward Design+Build was awarded the 141st Readiness Center project for the National Guard. The project consisted of the demolition of an existing building that was located on Claiborne Ave. for the location of the new 141st Readiness Center on the Jackson Barracks Campus. In addition to the Readiness Center, Woodward built a new Central Plant which feeds several buildings located between St. Claude and Claiborne Ave. and completed renovation of the existing operation and maintenance buildings in a separate location on the campus. In addition to the three buildings under contract, there is approximately 300,000 square feet of parking for military and private vehicles.
The Readiness Center is a four story, 116,000 square foot structural steel and brick veneer building, with cast stone on the building exterior as well. The structure is designed for the appropriate military requirements and specifications. The building design also included many sustainable features. The exterior of the new Central Plant is coordinated to match the 141st Readiness Center exterior as well as the adjacent building that was constructed under a separate contract.
